The hallway is the tightest space in a home and takes the most traffic. Slim shoe cabinets that fold out rather than swing open, console tables deep enough to be useful and shallow enough to pass, benches you can actually sit on.
Entryway furniture lives or dies on depth. A cabinet an inch too deep turns a corridor into an obstacle. The flip drawer shoe cabinets here answer that by swinging shoes outward from a shallow body instead of needing door clearance in front.
The other constraint is weight. A bench in a hallway gets sat on hard, several times a day, usually by somebody pulling a boot off. Ours state the seat load and use a frame rather than a box, because a bench that flexes on the second week was never a bench.
