A vanity is a desk with a light on it, and the light is the part that matters. What to look for is where the lamps sit relative to your face, and whether there is a socket within reach of the mirror.

The two failures a bed frame actually has are a dip in the middle and a click when somebody turns over. The first comes from support: legs down the centre line rather than only at the corners.
